Rajnath giving half-truths on China: Owaisi
MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi speaking on the issue of talks between defence minister Rajnath Singh and Chinese counterpart Gen. Wei Fenghe alleged that Singh was telling “halftruths”.
“I tweeted yesterday that eight hours had passed since the Chinese defence minister released the statement but Rajnath Singh did not release any statement. The fact of the matter is that the Chinese government is going to vacate one thousand square kilometres, which they occupied inside Indian LAC. There is no clarity.”
He said foreign minister S. Jaishankar was on record that this was the most serious situation since 1962. That clearly showed that the Chinese were inside India’s LAC, he said.
Owaisi said the Modi government did not release any statement, perhaps because “our Prime Minister was engaged in feeding peacocks in his residence. However, the nation wants to know what was told by our defence minister to his Chinese counterpart. Whether he told him that you have to leave our territory and if he condemned the killing of 20 of our soldiers.”
On the scrapping of Question Hour in the oncoming Parliament session, he said Telangana state Assembly will have the Question Hour.
“Our Chief Minister is open to accountability and is ready to answer on the floor of the Assembly. If the government does not want Question Hour, it means that it is running away and does not want to be accountable for the people of India,” he said.
