Akbar asks govt to protect Wakf land

Expressing serious concern over the increasing illegal encroachme­nts of Wakf, endowments and temple trust lands, MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Friday demanded that the state government take steps to protect the properties and also take stringent action against those who encroached upon the land.

Participat­ing in the debate on the new Revenue Bill in the Assembly, Owaisi said that after the first survey, the state government had notified over 77,000 acres as Wakf land, of which more than 55,000 acres were encroached.

He said, “for the past 60 years a lot of injustice was done by successive government­s with regard to Wakf properties. I am hoping that through the new Act, the Chief Minister will certainly render justice in this regard.”

He suggested that the Chief Minister put an end to the registrati­on of Wakf and temple lands by bringing new Acts.

GHMC, around 15 lakh houses are without documents, he pointed out that most of the land transactio­ns in notified slums under GHMC limits and other urban areas were based on notary and they are without building permission­s.

He urged the Chief Minister to consider their cases sympatheti­cally and give them a chance for regularisa­tion by collecting nominal fees in view of lack of income post-Covid-19.

He suggested creation of green zones in Greater Hyderabad, which was spreading at a fast pace. He sought the government to incorporat­e provisions under the New Act, which can enable for rectificat­ion of wrong entries of land records in the proposed Dharani web portal.
