Sitara gets rolling again

-

As film shootings begin, the film Sitara, starring Sobhita Dhulipala and Rajeev Siddhartha in the lead and directed by Vandana Karatia, is all set to go on the floors. However, the makers are apparently waiting for the situation to get still better and for the masks from the background to disappear and to be able to complete the shoot as planned.

The film is from RSVP’s straight-to-digital slate. Having completed a brief schedule in Mumbai, the filmmakers halted the shoot of the film owing to the Coronavirus pandemic. Sitara is the love story of a fiercely independent, feisty, young interior designer and a young, aspiring chef, who recognise the flaws in their relationship and sets out to redeem themselves and make it work. The story, expected to be rather relatable to the audiences about a dysfunctional family, will be rendered with a lot of heart and tongue-incheek humour.

The film’s director Vandana, who has worked as a production designer, is excited to get back on set. Adding that the story of Sitara is very close to her heart, she says, “It is something that all modern-day families experience but are reluctant to confront.” Sitara is important even for the lead actress Sobhita. “A film such as Sitara is a small step taken towards a larger newness in Indian cinema. I’m truly glad to be a part of it and now that we go back to shoot in November, we, as a team, are returning stronger in mind, body and spirit. Raring to go!” she says.
