NO CLARITY ON REOPENING OF SCHOOL IN TS

-

Hyderabad, Sept. 15: Minister of Education P. Sabitha Indra Reddy said on Tuesday that there was no clarification as to when the schools will be reopened in the state.

“There are guidelines on the reopening of schools from September 21. But it could take some more time as we have to operate in compliance with the guidelines of the central and state governments,” she said, referring to a question on e-learning in the Telangana Legislative Council during Question Hour.

Responding to the questions raised by the participants, she said that the parents were also not interested in sending their children to school in the light of the situation of Covid-19. “We agree that at least 50% of teachers should first attend school on September 21 and that parents’ consent will be obtained to allow their children to attend school,” the Minister said.

She said that instructions were given to private school administrators not to raise further fees from their parents because of the situation of Covid-19. “We have given memos to a few schools for ignoring our request and also seeking clarification from them,” the Minister said.

According to the Minister, as many as 67,57 lakh students, including primary, middle school, graduate and engineering students, were promoted as there was no space for Covid examinations. The educational institutions were closed on 16 March as a result of the pandemic. —
