Govt Doctors’ Assn seeks in-service quota in state
The Telangana Government Doctors’ Association, DH wing, on Tuesday sought the implementation of in-service quota in the state.
In support of its demand, a delegation from the association met with director of medical education Dr K. Ramesh Reddy and submitted a memorandum demanding implementation of inservice quota for government doctors who are working in rural, tribal, and urban areas on the frontlines in the battle against the Coronavirus pandemic in the state.
The demand comes in the wake of the state government’s decision to address the shortage of specialist doctors to tackle Coronavirus emergencies. The delegation, in its submission, sought implementation of 50 per cent quote for filling up the specialist vacancies from among in-service doctors both in the clinical and non-clinical sides. The delegation also submitted a Supreme Court order to the Director of Medical Education on this subject.
Earlier, the Association, led by its president Dr Lalu Prasad Rathod, had met with Health Minister Etala Rajendar and sought implementation of the Supreme Court’s judgment in Telangana.
Among those who met with Dr Ramesh Reddy on Tuesday were Dr Rathod, the Association’s working president Dr Kalyan Chakravarthy, state secretary general Dr Dean Dayal, state treasurer Dr Prashanth, Dr Pallam Praveen and Dr Ajmira Ranga.
