AP TO START NEW EDU POLICY NEXT YEAR
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Union government’s New Education Policy 2020 of 5+3+3+4 was accepted in principle and would be implemented from the academic year 2021-22.
He held a review meeting on the NEP at the CM camp office here on Tuesday and instructed the officials to prepare SOPs for utilizing the services of village/ ward secretariats in the education sector and also to design the required app for the same.
He further instructed the officials to prepare a plan to introduce Pre Primary 1 and 2 curriculum before students join Class 1for solid foundation course.
He said that appropriate textbooks should be printed and training programmes designed for teachers to implement the new national education policy. The officials concerned should inspect schools and colleges to ensure their compliance with the minimum standards. "Educational institutions which do not meet the required standards should be closed immediately and permission should be given for their reopening only after they have achieved those standards again.”
The officials said many modules proposed in the NEP-2020 were already being implemented in the state. The government already set up 1261 Gurukul schools for SC, ST, BC and minority communities, 352 Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalayas (KGBVs) for girls and 672 Bhavita Kendras for the disabled. “Two commission have been set up in the state to monitor standards in school and college education, while NEP has envisage one commission,” they said.
