Shivraj slams TRS, Cong for provoking farmers
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan slammed the opposition parties for provoking farmers and misleading them.
Addressing a press conference at the state BJP office here on Monday, he said that Congress' boat was sinking, which was the reason they were trying to save themselves by misleading farmers. He slammed the hypocrisy of Congress, DMK, AAP, SP, Akali Dal, TMC and Left parties on farm laws.
Chouhan recalled that NCP chief Sharad Pawar had written to him in 2011, “There’s need to amend APMC Act to encourage private sector investment in marketing, infrastructure and to provide alternate competitive marketing channels in the overall interest of farmers, consumers and agri-trade.”
He reminded that former prime minister Manmohan Singh also supported the new laws, which he tried during his tenure. He questioned Manmohan Singh’s Uturn on the Farmers Act. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had increased the MSP for farmers of all produce, unlike their sorry plight during Congress regimes.
The veteran leader said that TRS was also misleading farmers because it was now scared of the rising popularity of BJP and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was spreading wrong propaganda against the Union Government only to salvage his political career.
