Vaccine safe, Gov. tells health staff
Don’t hesitate to vaccine, says Tamilisai
TS Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has called on healthcare personnel and staff of hospitals, private or public, to come forward and take the Covid19 vaccines. “There is no need for hesitancy in taking the vaccines,” the Governor, herself a medical doctor, stated.
“There are reservations among frontline workers in the healthcare community about taking the vaccines. We are not testing the vaccines on you. We are gifting vaccines to frontline warriors for protecting them, as they are the most exposed to virus because they treat patients,” Dr Soundararajan observed.
Covid-19 vaccines, she maintained, are a “thanksgiving” from a nation grateful to its frontline medical workers.

Stressing on safety of vaccines approved by the government for use in the country, she said the doses are not only safe but effective, if not better than other Covid-19 vaccines being administered in other parts of the world.
“I keep getting asked when I will take the vaccine. Since I am not a practicing doctor, I am an ordinary citizen. I will take the vaccine when my turn comes along with rest of the people in the state,” she said.
Dr Soundararajan said that the wholly Indian Covaxin “is our vaccine for our people”, whose administration here will begin on occasion of the Republic Day on Tuesday. Its safety and immunogenicity are better and the dosage is available at low cost.
“I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for visiting the Bharat Biotech facility, where the vaccine is being manufactured,” she remarked.
The Governor complimented staff of ESIC hospital and medical college for services being rendered in tackling Covid-19 pandemic and various innovations they have introduced. She complimented ESCI dean Dr Srinivas for showing exemplary leadership, and working hard despite being himself a Covid-19 victim twice during his line of duty.
