Giving vent to the adventurer in her
The hunger to do more remains, says Bhumika Chawla
The audiences have got used to seeing Bhumika Chawla in girlnext-door and homemaker roles. Not many know that she’s very adventurous. A biking enthusiast, Bhumika is glad that she got the opportunity to play a biker in Idhe Maa Katha, directed by Guru Pawan.
“It’s always a nice feeling for an actor to do something different. I have been fond of bike riding since childhood. I learnt it when I was in Class X,” she says, revealing that she broke her foot while learning to ride, and it took her three months to recover. “But that did not stop me,” she smiles.
While Bhumika leads a simple life, she likes taking up adventure sports when possible, and never shies away from having fun. From enjoying an exhilarating zip-line ride to scuba diving, snorkelling, rope climbing, underwater diving, long distance bike riding, etc., Bhumika is always game.
“I love being adventurous! Yeah, there is a streak of adventure in me,” she says.
“My son is studying Class VII, and I ensure that he completes his homework, online classes, etc. And I also pursue my dream of being adventurous,” the Kushi actress shares.
“Naturally, I think about my child before I think about myself. But most mothers need to think about themselves
too and strike a balance,” she smiles and says that while teaching kids, parents also learn new things. Bhumika’s son is fascinated by showbiz. “He would love to get into the TV industry. Let’s see,” she says, adding that going on adventure trips with her son gives her a different high.
Having spent over two decades in the film industry the Okkadu star is grateful for the opportunities and the audience appreciation she has got.
“I want young girls and women, especially middleclass people, to dream and achieve those dreams. Giving up on dreams is never a route to happiness. I have realised that one should not reach the end of life with regrets. have no regrets, but the hunger to do more always remains. You have to be content, and at the same time, also dream. While contentment keeps you at peace, dreams keep you going,” the Simhadri actress philosophises. Learning to fly a plane is next on her agenda.
