4 more succumb to virus in state

Four more people have lost their lives to Covid-19 in Telangana state since Sunday (February 21), the last day for which the state health department released its bulletin on status of Covid-19 cases.

As on Sunday, the state had registered 1,625 deaths from the disease. On Wednesday, the Union ministry of health, in its daily nationwide Covid-19 cases status report posted on its website, said Telangana state reported

1,629 deaths from Covid19. As per the ministry’s data, two persons lost their lives to the disease in the state on Monday, while two more died on Tuesday.

As per the state health department, as on February 21, Telangana recorded 2,97,712 cases of

Covid-19. On Wednesday, as on 8 am, according to the Government of India website https://www.mygov.in/co

rona-data/covid19-statewise-status/, Telangana’s total cases stood at

2,98,057, indicating that in the two days since February 21, that is on February

22 and 23, the state recorded an additional 345 new

Covid-19 cases.

These cases represent the highest in terms of new Covid-19 cases during the 14 days preceding February 22.

Between February 20 and 21, the state reported

277 cases. On February 18 and 19, the cases were 322, on February 16 and 17 –

311, on February 14 and 15 – 228, on February 12 and

13 – 297, and on February

10 and 11, the number of fresh Covid-19 cases were

289.

It may be recalled that on Tuesday, the health department said that it will stop releasing daily

Covid-19 bulletins, so that it can use the manpower and time devoted to preparing the bulletin and compiling Covid-19 case data every day, towards its vaccinatio­n efforts.

However, Telangana, as do other states, is required to upload daily case details with the Union ministry of health for the Centre to monitor the caseload status.
