Janhvi Kapoor, who debuted in 2018 with Dhadak, now has a bouquet of films awaiting theatrical release, including Roohi, a comedy–horror with Rajkumar Rao and Varun Sharma (releasing in March).

Excerpts from an interview:

YOUR JOURNEY IN THE INDUSTRY THUS FAR?

I’m enjoying it. I’m happy doing (what I am doing) and very happy the way it’s going ahead. I want to better my work and I hope to find roles that will be memorable. And by that I mean roles that I cherish and have the ability to make a lasting impression on people — roles that make people emotional and laugh and cry.

TELL AS ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING RELEASE,

ROOHI?

Roohi is a comedy–horror flick, which is going to scare people. (Laughs) It’s been very exciting. We have done everything from our end. Now, we are anxiously awaiting the audiences’ reactions and responses.

HOW WAS IT WORKING WITH RAJKUMMAR RAO? A lovely experience. Through this film I had the opportunity to work with some fine actors and technicians. Everyone knows the kind of work Rajkummar has done. He is a versatile actor. It was my first comedy film, and though I’m not doing any comedy in it, to watch Rajkummar and Varun play their comedic roles, and to especially witness their comic scenes, their banter and their timing was very interesting.

The film has funny scenes, as you might have seen from the trailers, but I don’t have those one-liners. So while I’m more the cause of the comedy in the film, I’m not enacting the comedy scenes.

YOUR FUTURE FILMS?

I have Dostana-2 and Good luck Jerry. Dostana-2 is an out and out comedy film, one which I am very excited about because it’s completely a different world. Good Luck Jerry, on the other hand, is a film that makes me feel extremely heroic. It has allowed me to do a lot of things including shoot action scenes.

ARE YOU KEEN ON PLAYING ACTION-ORIENTED CHARACTERS?

I would love to do an action role. Lara Croft is my favourite action

character.
