BJP CAMPAIGN FOR MLC POLLS MOVES INTO TOP GEAR

- IREDDY SRINIVAS REDDY | DC

The BJP has intensified its Graduate MLC election campaign in both segments with tour by key leaders and second-rung functionaries. Union minister of state for home affairs G. Kishan Reddy toured in the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district along with party vice-president D.K. Aruna.

On the other hand, state party president Bandi Sanjay Kumar toured in Tandur in Vikarabad district and some parts of Ranga Reddy district on Tuesday. Sanjay asked the cadre to work hard work in the campaign and boost the confidence level of the activists.

On the way to Tandur, the MP offered support to the lawyers’ hunger strike at Nampally court complex seeking a CBI probe into the recent murder of advocate G. Vaman Rao and his wife Nagamani.

He participated in interaction sessions with graduates at Bandlaguda in Ranga Reddy district, along with MLC N. Ramchander Rao. He alleged that the TRS government diverted people’s mind from MLC elections to the ITIR issue and the government’s failure in fulfilling the party’s promises. He saw a conspiracy in the TRS nominating former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao’s daughter even though Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao knew that the TRS would lose the seat.

Sanjay criticised the Chief Minister, claiming he was dividing votes and helping other party candidates rather his own nominee. He accused TRS leaders of threatening the public during the party’s membership programmes that those who do not take the membership would be kept out of the welfare schemes.

The funds allocated to the welfare schemes were not drawn from the Chandrashekar Rao family or the TRS family. “They were purely public money. If TRS leaders continued with such statements, the BJP will take the issue seriously,” he said.
