SUNNY TO DELIVER JAISIMHA
MEMORIAL LECTURE IN APRIL
HYDERABAD, MARCH 2
The family of legendary cricketer M. L. Jaisimha have decided to transform the Jaisimha Cricket Academy into a Trust — the M. L. Jaisimha Sports Foundation. The announcement came on Tuesday, eve of the former dashing batsman’s 82nd Birth Anniversary.
“This Trust has been started to keep Jaisimha’s legacy alive and make his dream of providing free coaching in all sports to talented young sports persons who cannot afford it,” Ms Jayanthi Jaisimha said in a press release.
“Our first initiative is to provide free coaching to 30 deserving young underprivileged cricketers — 15 boys and 15 girls in the 15 to 19 age group. This was Jaisimha’s dream. The cricketers will initially be from the State of
Telangana and coaching will commence once permission is granted by the Government during this pandemic,” she said.
“We are also delighted to announce that the first M. L. Jaisimha lecture will be held at the Foundation premises in April by Jaisimha’s greatest fan, Sunil Gavaskar,” the release read.
Further activities that The Trust proposes to take are: Coaching by experts assisted by trainers and physiotherapists; online webinars, lectures; debates and panel discussions; workshops on leadership, peak performance, umpiring, sports management and commentating; E-Zine on subscription model; cricket and sports library; digital dissemination of cricketing knowledge; match opportunities in India and abroad and scholarships for talented sportspersons.
