Eflu recruitmen­t for 58 vacancies gets court boost

Telangana High Court on Wednesday allowed English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) to go ahead with interviews for recruitmen­t of 58 vacant positions of professor, associate professor and assistant professor. The process was stopped following the February 2 and 5 orders of National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).

However, the court directed the university not to declare the results of interviews, until further orders by it.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B.Vijaysen Reddy, was dealing with a petition filed by the university, which sought suspension of orders issued by NCBC.

He said that there should have been eight professors, 16 associate professors and 39 assistant professors from the OBC community. However, while there was no representa­tion of professors and associate professors, only 23 out of 39 posts sanctioned for assistant professors have been filled. But, as per recruitmen­t notificati­on issued in 2020, university did not reserve sufficient posts for OBC community. Based on that, NCBC stayed the recruitmen­t process.
