Temperatures rise across TS, mercury nudges 40ºC

-

Summer appears to be truly on its way to settling over Telangana with the TS Development Planning Society (TSDPS) reporting that Garimellapadu in Bhadadri-Kothagudem district, recorded a maximum temperature of 39.8º Celsius, on Wednesday. At this rate it is feared that the state will breach the

40ºC-mark this month. April and May are the peak months of summer in Telangana and the rising temperatures across the state, with several districts reporting maximum temperature in the upper

30ºC band, could bring summer early this year.

“The summer would be here sooner than expected. The temperatures are rising because the states to the north of Telangana are also heating up. The hot winds from these areas are blowing over Telangana, making the state it warmer,” Dr K. Nagaratna, director, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, told Deccan Chronicle.

Meanwhile, the IMD said Nizamabad reported a maximum of 38.6ºC, followed by Adilabad with 38.3ºC. Bhadrachalam recorded 38.2ºC and Mahbubnagar reporting a maximum temperature of 37ºC.

The day’s maximum in Hyderabad according to the IMD was 36.2ºC.

The lowest minimum temperature of 13.4ºC in the state was reported from Arli in Adilabad district by the TSDPS.

The next few days will continue to witness dry weather across the state with maximum temperatures in parts of Nalgonda, Suryapet, Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Mahbubabad, Jangaon, Warangal Urban & Rural, Mulugu, Karimnagar, Raja-nna-Siricilla, Jayshankar-Bhupalapalli, Peddapalli, Mancherial, Jgitial, Kamaraeddy, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Adilabad, and Kumrumbheed-Asifabad expected to be between 37.1ºC and 39.1ºC.
