Uttam: KCR opposed airport for Warangal
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had opposed the establishment of the airport at Mamnoor in Warangal. He also slammed the BJP government at the Centre for not establishing the Railway Coach Factory at Kazipet which was promised in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
He said these projects could have created hundreds of jobs for the local youth. He criticised the TRS for not asking for those projects and the BJP for not sanctioning them
The TPCC chief said it Chandrashekar Rao was obstructing development work in the state including the IT Investment Region, Kazipet Coach Factory and Bayyaram Steel Factory among others. He alleged that the TRS government is interested only in projects that bring commissions to Chandrashekar Rao.
During a meeting as part of the campaign for the Nalgonda-Warangal-Khammam graduates’ Legislative Council constituency election at Kakatiya University, Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with Congress candidate Ramulu Naik, interacted with the students. The TPCC chief recalled the role played by students of Kakatiya University during the Telangana movement.
However, he said none of the students, who made huge sacrifices and risked their careers, benefited from the formation of the state.
The Chandrashekar Rao family had grabbed all the benefits and encroached upon resources. He said that the TRS government delayed the withdrawal of cases registered during the Telangana agitation which prevented thousands of students from applying for government jobs. Further, he said. no special exemption was given in recruitment drives for those who participated in the statehood movement.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS government reduced the overall budget for the education sector and did not appoint a single teacher or non-teaching staff in the last seven years.
District Congress Committee president N. Rajender Reddy, North Telangana district incharge Enagala Venkatram Reddy, TPCC members B. Srinivas Rao were present among others.
