TN BJP SEEKS BAN ON RAHUL’S CAMPAIGN
The State BJP has urged the Election Commission to restrain Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from campaigning in the State as he has reportedly compared the situation in the country to that which prevailed under imperial rule before independence.
In a letter to the Election Commission, State President L Murugan and V Balachandran, who is state in-charge for election liaison committee, also demanded the filing of an FIR under Section 124 A of the IPC.
They alleged that Rahul Gandhi was inciting and abetting the youth for another freedom struggle and that it was done with an intent to cause hatred, contempt and excite dissatisfaction towards the government established by law.
Tamil Nadu politics revolve round the DMK and the AIADMK which are sailing with the Congress and the BJP respectively (Sasikala quits politics ahead of TN elections, March 4). The DMK seems to be returning to power in the ensuing elections, going by the proven theory that these regional parties are voted to power alternatively. The AIADMK split following Jayalalithaa’s death. Against such a backdrop, Sasikala’s decision to quit politics is not her own but the idea of the BJP to avoid split of votes.
