Congress promotes social justice: Uttam

Rising unemployment, fuel prices will help Cong win MLC polls

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday said Congress has shown its commitment to social justice by nominating Sabavath Ramulu Naik, a Girijan, as its candidate in MLC elections from Warangal-KhammamNalgonda graduates’ constituency.

He claimed that the no party has ever made an SC or ST leader as its candidate from graduates’ constituencies so far. He pointed out that all parties have nominated Reddy community leaders as their candidates for WarangalKhammam-Nalgonda constituency. To ensure social justice, Ramulu Naik was nominated by

Congress president Sonia Gandhi for a general category seat. Therefore, he said, it becomes the duty of entire Congress cadre to work hard for the victory of Ramulu Naik in MLC elections.

Uttam Kumar Reddy slammed the BJP government at the centre and state government in the state for the huge rise in prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas. He maintained that this itself will majorly contribute for the defeat of BJP and TRS candidates. The Congress MP accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of doing nothing for the nearly 30 lakh unemployed youth in Telangana, 19 lakh of whom have registered with the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC). He demanded that the state government immediately fill all the 1.91 lakh vacancies identified by the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), besides taking measures to generate employment opportunities for the remaining 28 lakh jobless persons. In the interim, the state government should provide the promised allowance of `3,016 to all unemployed youth with retrospective effect from December 2018.

The TPCC chief said Prime Minister Narendra Modi too had promised to give two crore jobs every year. Instead of providing 14 crore new jobs since 2014, BJP government’s wrong policies have resulted in 18 crore people losing employment.

The Nalgonda MP said TRS MLC Palla

Rajeshwar Reddy has no moral right to seek votes in the MLC elections as he has done nothing for unemployed graduates or youth during the past six years as MLC. He charged that TRS leaders are now trying to win elections by spending their illgotten money and supplying liquor to voters.

The TPCC chief asserted that the main contest in the MLC election from WarangalKhammam-Nalgonda constituency is between Congress and TRS. He said voting for Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) president Prof. M. Kodandaram will be a waste as he is not a strong contender. He said all graduates should unite for victory of the Congress candidate.
