Over 3,307 cases in 24 hrs, death toll rises to 1,788

The relentless surge of

Covid-19 cases continues in Telangana state with

3,307 more people falling victims to the disease in the state on Wednesday. Deaths from the disease too continued with eight more people succumbing to the disease taking the fatalities tally to 1,788 so far, while the total cases reached 3,38,405 in the state.

This April, the state, experienci­ng a severe second wave of Covid-19, has in the first two weeks, seen Telangana state register a record 28,304 cases, nearly three times the entire March tally of

9,853 cases.

Active Covid-19 cases on April 14 stood at 27,861, according to the Covid-19 bulletin issued by the health department. Of these, 18,685 people were in isolation at homes or in Covid care centres while the rest, 9,175 were in hospitals.

Meanwhile, 10 of the 33 districts in the state reported new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday in their hundreds with the most cases, 446, coming from the GHMC area including Hyderabad city.

The second highest number of cases, 314, were in MedchalMal­kajgiri district, followed by 279 in Nizamabad, 277 in Ranga Reddy, 155 in Jagitial, 153 in Sangareddy, 148 in Nirmal, 128 in Kamareddy, 102 in Nalgonda, and 101 in Khammam districts.

On Wednesday, 897 people were declared as recovered from Covid-19 taking the total recovered cases to 3,08,396 in the state.

The health department said it conducted 1,06,627 tests during the day with results from 3,715 tests awaited as on 8 pm. on Wednesday.
