41,249 cases booked in 3 days for mask violation
Continuing the crackdown on the Covid-mask rule violators, the police in Telangana have booked 41,249 cases in the last three days alone, resulting in the collection of fines totaling `4.12 crore.
Hyderabad commissionerate area had the highest number of violators, wherein 15,230 violators were booked.
The figures were tabulated by the IT cell of the police from April 12 to April 14.
The police commissionerates of Cyberabad and Rachakonda have booked 948 and 3,067 cases respectively during the same period.
Police said that those caught driving/riding on vehicles without masks are given e-challan and those caught on-foot are given e-tickets, which can be paid at any Mee-Seva.
“To strictly impose the rule, we introduced the e-ticket software to book the pedestrians. Our prime goal is to make sure everyone followed the rules and wore the mask,” an official said.
Interacting with senior officials through video conference, DGP Mahender Reddy had earlier this month, asked the police commissioners and SPs to ensure that everyone wore face masks and maintained physical distance in public areas.
“Police officers across the state have been directed to coordinate with all the stakeholders in the local communities including resident welfare associations as also officials at the village/ward levels and ensure implementation of the mask rule.
