Sonia sacrificed Cong. for TS, says Jana Reddy

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Congress candidate for Nagarjunasagar assembly bypoll Kunduru Jana Reddy on Thursday came down heavily on TRS chief and chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for the sharp criticism he made against him as well as the Congress party at Wednesday’s Halia rally.

Jana Reddy rubbished the Chief Minister’s claim that he had achieved Telangana state by putting his life in the jaws of death.

It was Congress chief Sonia Gandhi who boldly decided to grant statehood for Telangana even as she knew it would affect the future of the Congress party in the two new states, Jana said.

Addressing a press conference, Jana said Telangana Congress leaders too had put their political future at stake to convince Sonia

Gandhi for the bifurcation.

Referring to K. Chandrashekar Rao’s criticism that Jana Reddy did nothing for the development of Nagarjunasagar constituency despite serving as MLA and minister for 30 years, Jana Reddy said, “Either K. Chandrashekar Rao should be blind or ignorant. I have brought in roads, provided irrigation canals and drinking water, as also power supply and all other infrastructure facilities in every village.

Can KCR tell us what the TRS did in the last six years? Except for continuing with the Congress schemes by renaming them to fool the people, K. Chandrashekar Rao did nothing in the last six years.”

Jana said though he had challenged the TRS several times to come for an open debate onNagarjunasagar development, no leader responded.

This showed that they were only spreading lies, he said.

Jana rejected KCR's criticism that he had compromised on Telangana's interests in return for posts in his vast political career. “We as Congress ministers and MLAs from Telangana region tendered our resignations to bring pressure on the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre to grant statehood for Telangana.

I was offered the CM post but I rejected it fearing that it may weaken the Telangana statehood movement. We had withdrawn our resignations only after Sonia Gandhi gave us an assurance that Telangana state will be created at any cost,” he said.
