To avenge rape of daughter, man hacks 6 of a family

Avenging daughter’s rape and subsequent blackmail, a middle-aged man hacked to death six members of a family including two infants in Juttada village under Pendurthy mandal in Visakhapatnam in the early hours of Thursday.

The accused was identified as Battina Appala Raju, the victims’ neighbour. Appalaraju wanted to kill B. Vijay Kiran, who raped his daughter, and his family members but ended up killing all his family members.

The deceased were identified as Vijay Kiran’s father Bamidi Ramana (57), Kiran’s wife Bamidi Usha Rani (30), Kiran’s son B. Uday (2), Kiran’s daughter B. Urvasi (six months), Allu Ramadevi (53), mother of Usha Rani and Nakettlu Aruna, relative of Usha Rani. The victims were found in a pool of blood.

The police said Vijay Kiran allegedly raped Appala Raju’s daughter (20year-old victim) in 2018. A case has been registered against Vijay Kiran and the case is under trial. The rape victim reported that the accused Vijay Kiran, a married person, moved very closely with Appalaraju family and called the victim to his house and offered sedative laced soft drinks to her. He later allegedly raped her several times.

Kiran’s wife Bamidi Usha Rani blackmailed the rape victim by showing her seminude photos and demanded money from her. Maniyala Vinay, Bammidi Sai, Pilleni Durga Prasad and Challa Nagaraju also co-operated the rape accused and blackmailed her for money.

Later the complainant’s brother Bathina Vijay Prasad noticed WhatsApp messages in his sister’s phone, immediately challenged the Vijay Kiran family. But they threatened to kill him. The police filed a charge sheet against the accused Vijay Kiran and the case is pending in the court.

Inspector of Pendurthi police station, Ashok Kumar said that Vijay Kiran and his family have been staying in Vijayawada and came to attend a marriage.

Knowing that Vijay Kiran’s family had come to Juttada, Appala Raju (49) who has been waiting to take revenge on Vijay Kiran and his family, hacked six persons to death in the early hours of Thursday when they were asleep.

Vijay Kiran and his elder son were at Sivajipalem in Vizag city.
