- YUSUF JAMEEL | DC

The Jammu and Kashmir authorities have deferred ‘Darbar move’, the biannual shifting of the civil secretariat or the seat of the government and other offices from winter capital Jammu to summer capital Srinagar in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases.

The ‘Darbar’ was scheduled to close in Jammu later this month and reopen in Srinagar on May 10. But now the secretariat will function at both Jammu and Srinagar “in an equitable manner”, J&K’s Lieutenant

Governor, Manoj said on Thursday.

“In view of sharply rising cases of Covid in J&K, the Govt has taken few important decisions ensuring safety of employees. Darbar move deferred because of Covid, Secretariat to function in both Srinagar & Jammu, office functioning not to be affected because of eoffice,” he tweeted.

He added, “Secretaries will function from both locations in an equitable manner Office functioning will not be affected as files to move electronically between both Secretariats in e-Office.”
