Ali Fazal to portray Ray

The actor will headline a story in an anthology series, based on Satyajit Ray

Ali Fazal, an actor belonging to the new-age tribe of cinema, is driven by the discernmen­t that a true artist’s vision is confounded the most by juggernaut­s of creative forces that are thrown in his path. But that is the very thought that allows him to pick projects judiciousl­y.

Now, Ali’s upcoming work is a part of Netflix’s next anthology based on Indian cinema’s greatest master of all times, Satyajit Ray. The actor will headline one of the four stories in this anthology series. “I agreed to be a part of this particular project directed by the Srijit Mukherji purely for his love for Satyajit Ray’s work and the vast legacy the auteur has left behind,” says Ali. “This is a role I’m doing purely out of my colossal love and admiration for Satyajit Ray’s profound work and legacy.”

According to Ali, as an actor, it’s a superlativ­e dream to be a part of something that has erupted from great sensibilit­y and craftsmans­hip. “I consider this to be hopefully my first in many more such opportunit­ies. The story I am a part of in the anthology is a psychologi­cal drama with a rousing story and I’m very excited to be a part of the same.
