TS records another high, 3,840 cases, 9 more die

Telangana appears set to explode with Covid-19 with the state reporting

3,840 new cases on Thursday, another new high. The daily deaths from the Coronaviru­s infection showed no sign of reducing with the health authoritie­s reporting that nine more people lost their lives, which is also the highest single day toll.

With the deaths reported for Thursday, the toll from Covid-19 in Telangana state reached

1,797, while the overall caseload rose to 3,41,885.

While, for long, Hyderabad city and the rest of the GHMC area reported most cases every day, other districts appear to be catching up with Covid-19 cases being recorded in large numbers in areas around Hyderabad too. On Thursday, MedchalMal­kajgiri reported 407 cases, up from 314 the previous day. Ranga Reddy, and Sangareddy districts reported 302 and 175 cases, up from

277 and 153 on Sunday respective­ly.

The health department said the GHMC area recorded 505 cases for Thursday.

A total of 14 districts reported cases in the hundreds, up from 10 which had cases in triple digits on Sunday. According to the official numbers released in the state Covid-19 bulletin by the health department, Nizamabad had 303 new

cases, followed by 167 in Jagtial, 159 in Nirmal, 144 in Kamareddy, 124 in Karimnagar, 116 in Nalgonda, 114 in Warangal Urban, 111 in Khammam, and 101 in Mancherial districts.

The burgeoning cases

also resulted in a large number of people, as many as 30,494 being categorise­d as active Covid19 cases in Telangana, with 20,215 of them either in home or institutio­nal isolation, the health department said.
