22-YR-OLD GETS SENTENCE TO JAIL FOR RAPE
A 22-year-old who sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl under the pretext of marriage was sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court in LB Nagar on Friday. The court also imposed a fine of `15,000 on him.
The accused, Kampelly Tirupathi, a technician, befriended the victim, took her to his relative’s house and married her there. He kept her in a rented home and sexually assaulted her.
Police said Tirupathi knew thta marrying a minor was an offence. Based on the complaint from the victim's mother, the Jawaharnagar police booked a case of kidnap and traced her and arrested Tirupathi.
Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat, appreciated the police officers for their efforts in getting conviction and announced reward to them.
