Haj applicants told to take 1st Covid vax dose

The Haj Committee of India has informed that in case Indian pilgrims will be allowed to perform Haj-2021, outgoing flights will start from mid-June. It suggested that those who have applied for the pilgrimage take the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine now on their own.

Chief Executive Officer, Haj Committee of India, Dr Maqsood Ahmed Khan issued a circular to all state Haj Committees stating that as per the statement of the Saudi Arabia health minister and a mail from Consulate General of India in Jeddah, pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia need to get two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine before departure to

Saudi Arabia.

He advised the intending pilgrims to take the first dose of vaccine now so that at the time of departure the second dose can be given to them. He clarified that no official communicat­ion regarding Haj-2021 had been received from the Saudi government. All the process of Haj will be subject to the approval of Saudi authoritie­s.
