The Shefali Shah spearheaded series, which won the award for Best Drama at the 48th Emmy Awards, is set to start airing its next season soon. Interestingly, the third part of the series has also been greenlighted.

According to sources, National Award winning director, Sudanshu Saria—who was in the news recently for winning the award for his film Knock

Knock Knock and then recently when his film poster of Loev was plagiarized by Ekta Kapoor for her show His Storyy—has been roped in as the director for the third part.

“They have already identified some stories that will be in the third part. The first part was aired in 2019 and we would have had a second part also streaming earlier had there been no pandemic. And now as the

Season 2 will stream this year, the third part will also go on the floors,” adds our source.

Season 1 of Delhi Crime was based on the true story of the rape and subsequent death of Jyoti Singh, a case that came to be known as the Nirbhaya case and flared up the country.

The actor’s exit from the show was a rather dignified one, with the latest episode showing his character, Dr Vijay Kapoor, resigning from his post.

While Anupam has not officially commented on the matter, it is believed he took the decision so he could spend time with his wife.

Anupam had revealed a few days ago through a social media post that Kirron was suffering from cancer.

Ironically, his role in the show was that of a doctor who treated patients with no hope.

Anupam, who’d earlier completed Vivek

Agnihotri’s film The

Kashmir Files, recently wrapped the shoot of a short film called Happy

Birthday, opposite Aahana

Kumra.
