CS lying on Covid crisis: BJP
Gudur says govt is under-reporting virus cases
Bharatiya Janata Party state senior leader Gudur Narayana Reddy on Thursday accused Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar of sweeping facts under carpet and resorting to gross lies on Covid situation in the state.
Referring to the ‘situation under control’ remarks of the Chief Secretary, the BJP leader alleged that the state government had been indulging in underreporting of cases as well as deaths. There is
no truth in Chief Secretary’s claims on availability of sufficient beds. “Let us make calls to hospitals in the presence of media and truth will come out,” he said.
The BJP leader said no action had been initiated to implement the Chief Minister’s promise of ‘vaccinate for all free of cost’ with an expenditure of `2,500 crore. On the Chief Secretary monitoring the Covid control measures, Reddy said a person who was not accessible for people to receive representations and blindly followed the reports of his subordinates would not understand the ground realities.
The BJP leader said the Chief Minister was least bothered about people’s lives and removed the health minister at a crucial time. The Chief Secretary, apparently with an eye on post retirement rehabilitation, has been toeing the line of the Chief Minister. “There is not a single instance of the Chief Minister visiting any hospital to monitor the facilities and treatment provided to Covid patients,” he said. Reddy wondered how the health secretary went into oblivion and his subordinates did all the talking.
