POLICE LAUNCH SITE FOR PLASMA, O2 CYLINDERS
Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat launched a website for plasma and oxygen cylinders on Saturday. https://donateplasma.rksc.in has been developed in association with Rachakonda Security Council.
While launching the Praana Vayu Seva, the site for oxygen cylinders, and plasma donation webpage, the commissioner said that Rachakonda police has been serving the community in every possible manner, including food distribution, free cab service for non-medical emergencies, free ambulance to patients, psychosocial counselling, adoption of orphanages and old age homes and final journey services.
“Around 77 Covid warriors from Rachakonda police have donated plasma. While the convalescent plasma therapy is widely prescribed by doctors for treating Covid patients, there is a huge demand for plasma. Around
70 per cent of requests received at the Covid control room pertain to plasma requirement. Due to apprehensions with respect to plasma donation or due to lack of a proper platform to connect, many potential donors are losing an opportunity to save lives of others, despite their keenness to rise to the occasion. Plasma donation is as simple as blood donation. A Covid recovered person can donate plasma every fortnight. Just 400 ml of plasma can save two lives. We had a noble person who donated plasma 21 times,” he said.
“Those in need can call Rachakonda Covid Control room at 94906-17234 and fill in the request form duly uploading the documents to obtain the cylinder for a limited period. I am thankful to DRDO, Lions Club, Hetch Foundation, and Second Chance Foundation for providing the cylinders,” he added.
Bhagwat appealed to the citizens to seek their help with regard to any Covid-related issue. He particularly exhorted youngsters to come forward for donating plasma.
