AP gets its first oxygen Express with 40 MT gas
The first Oxygen Express to Andhra Pradesh was received on Saturday at Krishnapatnam Port with two containers laden with 40 metric tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO). The train was operated from Durgapur in West Bengal and it traversed a distance of nearly 1,650 km in 27 hours. The Railways operated the train along a green corridor, which helped in moving the Oxygen Express at an average speed of 65 kmph.
LMO is a cryogenic cargo that has certain limitations in transportation. Taking into consideration all the risk factors, Railways have been operating Oxygen Express trains by identifying green corridors for their transportation. They are being operated by the Railways across the length and breadth of the country as per the request of the state governments. Accordingly, Oxygen Express trains were received in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in South Central Railway purview. Since the start of May, four Oxygen Express trains were received in Telangana. All these trains arrived at Sanath Nagar goods complex/container depots in Hyderabad.

Oxygen Express train started for Telangana from Gujarat and another train is ready for loading in Odisha. These are bringing eight tankers filled with nearly 140 tonnes of LMO.
Close on the heels of the first train, another Oxygen Express train already started from Kanalus in Gujarat with four container tankers bringing 76.39 tonnes of LMO. The second train is bound for Guntur.
Gajanan Mallya, the SCR General Manager, said that the Railways are operating Oxygen Express to provide safe and fast transportation of LMO to meet the requirements of the states.
He said that all these trains are being operated with utmost priority providing a green corridor for their transportation. He advised all officers and staff to maintain continuous monitoring of the movements of these trains, taking all necessary precautions.
