Gaga speaks of her painful trauma

The 35-year- old awardwinning singer revealed she got pregnant after getting raped by a producer when she was 19

On a recent episode of Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry’s talk show The Me You Can’t See, Lady Gaga broke down while speaking of a horrifying incident that marked her life.

As per an article in the digital platform of The U.S. Sun, the thirty-five-year-old award-winning singer spoke of being raped by a producer when she was only nineteen years old. Speaking of the ordeal, Lady Gaga said, “I was nineteen years old, and I was working in the business, and a producer said to me, ‘Take your clothes off.’ And I said no. And I left, and they told me they were going to burn all of my music. And they didn’t stop. They didn’t stop asking me, and I just froze and I—I don’t even remember. […] At my parents’ house because I was vomiting and sick. Because I’d been being abused. I was locked away in a studio for months.” Though Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, has spoken about being abused previously she’s not named her rapist. She’d also kept the abuse a secret for seven years, mostly questioning and blaming herself for the abuse.

“I didn’t know how to even think about it. I didn’t know how to accept it. I didn’t know how to not blame myself or think it was my fault. It was something that really changed my life. It changed who I was completely,” she said. “It changed my body, it changed thoughts. […] Because of the way that I dress, and the way that I'm provocative as a person, I thought that I had brought it on myself in some way—that it was my fault.” In 2019, Lady Gaga had also stood up against music producer Dr Luke and testifying against him after he was charged for raping the signer Kesha.
