30,000 high-risk people to get Covid-19 jab every day
Chief secretary Somesh Kumar visited the Gosha Mahal vaccination centre at Red Rose Function Palace in Nampally and oversaw the first dose that was given.
Speaking to the media, he said that 32 Covid vaccination centres have been set up in the GHMC limits from where they would administer doses to 30,000 people every day for the next seven days.
Over the next three days, around 1.4 lakh high-risk people from districts outside the jurisdiction of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will be administered the vaccine.
Somesh Kumar said that the centres will function between 8 am and 2 pm. He said only those with valid coupons issued by GHMC would be allowed entry into the centre, which will have 10 counters for assistance, registration and vaccination.
On the first day, 440 people were administered the first dose of the vaccine.
A businessman Ganta Nitin of Chirag Ali Lane who took the first dose here said all members of his family have been immunised.
Secretary Health Medical & Family Welfare S.A.M. Rizvi, GHMC commissioner Lokesh Kumar, Hyderabad collector Sweta Mohanty, director public health Dr G S Rao and other officials were also present.
