HYD COPS BOOK 9,552 LOCKDOWN VIOLATORS

Hyderabad city police booked 9,552 cases against lockdown violators on Friday, including 8,016 during the four-hour relaxation period. City police commission­er Anjani Kumar inspected Mehdipatna­m rythu bazaar and spoke to the vendors and reviewed lockdown restrictio­ns in the city.

Police report said that 1,088 cases were booked against those who were not wearing a mask/wearing improper masks and 367 booked against those not maintainin­g social distance.

“Around 55 cases were booked for gathering in large numbers and 26 for consumptio­n of alcohol and tobacco products in public areas. Officials also seized 6,514 vehicles,” the report said.

“It is good that 99. 99 per cent of the people in the twin cities are following lockdown rules and action is being taken against those who are flouting them,” he said.
