INDIAN IMMUNOLOGICAL TIES UP WITH BB
Hyderabad-based staterun vaccine maker Indian Immunological Limited (IIL) has tied up with Bharat Biotech Ltd for the supply of drug substance required for manufacturing the Covaxin vaccine.
The company, which comes under the National Dairy Development Board, said it would start the production of drug substance from June 15 and send out the first batch to Bharat Biotech by July.
The company’s managing director, Dr K. Anand Kumar, said “IIL is expected to produce the drug substance for about 10-15 million doses per month. Initially, it will produce 23 million doses and will scale up to 6-7 million per month later in the year.”
“We are converting the Karakapatla manufacturing unit of IIL near Hyderabad into a BioSafety Level-3 (BSL3) facility for the production of the drug substance and will take up construction of another block,” Dr Kumar said.
