PRASAD, EX-CS OF UNITED AP, PASSES AWAY
S.V. Prasad, former chief secretary to erstwhile combined Andhra Pradesh, died of Covid at a private hospital here on Tuesday. He was 70.
Prasad’s wife Lakshmi and his two sons, Vardhan and Sailesh, were also admitted to the hospital after they were tested positive. While the family recovered from the virus and was initially in home isolation, they developed post-Covid symptoms and were hospitalised.
According to close relatives, doctors performed a brain surgery on the exofficial and his wife a few days ago to remove clots. While Prasad breathed his last in the morning, doctors said his wife was in a critical condition. Both sons are stable.

Prasad was widely acclaimed as an efficient officer and a kind individual. The 1975 batch officer, a native of Vadisileru village in East Godavari, did his engineering from JNTU at Kakinada and joined IAS while doing Masters in Business from IIM, Ahmedabad.
He served in different posts including as collector of Visakhapatnam and Kadapa districts, Information and Public Relations Commissioner, principal secretary to the CM, APSRTC managing director and revenue principal secretary before becoming chief secretary in 2010. He also held the post of vigilance commissioner after his retirement in September 2011.
Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan, Himachal Pradesh Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Chief Ministers Jagan Mohan Reddy and Chandrashekar Rao and Telugu Desam president Chandrababu Naidu condoled Prasad’s death.
