Give free vaccines to all: Cong. tells govt
Centre, TS govt failed to curb pandemic: Uttam
The state Congress on Friday called upon the government to start universal free vaccination to save the people from Covid pandemic.
TS Congress president Uttam Kumar Reddy submitted a memorandum with this plea to Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan along with Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, MPs Revanth Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar.
Addressing the media, Uttam Kumar Reddy criticised both the central and state governments, saying they have failed to control the pandemic. Through the memorandum, the Congress leadership has conveyed their anguish to the President through this memorandum, he said.
He pleaded that vaccines should be given free of cost to all the adult population. The target of vaccinating all the adults by December 31 would not be achievable until it is done at the rate of one crore persons every day. At the present pace of vaccination, it takes three years to achieve the target of vaccinating all in the country, he said.
Coming down heavily on the Chief Minister for the state’s failure in controlling the pandemic spread, he said the TRS government failed to arrange medical facilities and medicines. Even though the Congress made a complaint to the governor in this connection some
15 months ago, the chief minister has taken the matter lightly, Uttam said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy pleaded that Covid-19 treatment should be listed in the Aarogyasri scheme immediately for the people to derive its benefits. Satyagrahas would be held by the party on June 7 at the state and district headquarters seeking free treatment to
Covid1-9 and black fungus patients.
