Global Hospital CMD avoids arrest till June 11
Dr Kancherla Ravindranath, chairman and managing director of Global Hospital, secured some relief in the Telangana High Court in a matrimonial dispute with his wife. The court said that he should not be arrested up to June 11. However, his request to quash the case filed by his wife Adilaxmi was denied at this stage.
The court directed Ravindranath to cooperate with the investigating officers by furnishing information and documents sought by the probe team.
Adilaxmi, on June 2, had filed a complaint before the Jubilee Hills police alleging that Dr Ravindranath had tried to kill her when she asked him to stop his alleged extra-marital relationships with other women.
She alleged that Dr Ravindranath, aged 65, had “sadistic sexual demands” and was paying women to have relationships with him, including a woman from Chennai. When she started started questioning him the about extramartial relationships, her husband had started ill-treating and manhandling her, Adilaxmi alleged in the complaint.
She also made allegations with regard to the disbursement of the amount that was generated with the sale of a 70 per cent share in Global Hospital. She complained that no money was given either to her or their children.
In their 41 years of their marriage, she had never complained to anybody against her husband considering the future of their children and grandchildren, Adilaxmi said in the complaint.
Based on the complaint, the police registered an FIR and investigation was initiated. With that, Dr Ravindranath approached the High Court to quash the FIR registered against him and direct the police to not initiate an investigation. While declining his plea to stop the investigation, the High Court directed the police to not arrest him till June 11. The court directed the public prosecutor’s office to get instructions and notice was issued to Adilaxmi.
