HCA brass serve prez show cause

-

The Hyderabad Cricket Association heavyweights are hilariously back to throwing punches, and counters.

On Thursday, five officebearers held an Apex Council meeting in the absence of president Mohammed Azharuddin and decided to issue him a show cause notice for serving a show cause to them.

Azhar contends the notice is null and void.

“A Show Cause notice was issued by the President, Mr Mohammad Azharuddin, to the Apex Council members, which is against the Memorandum of Association Rules and Regulations — 2018 of HCA as any Show Cause notice has to be issued by the Apex Council itself and not by an individual office bearer,” the five — vice president John Manoj, secretary R. Vijayanand, treasurer Surendra Agarwal, joint secretary Naresh Sharma and councilor Anuradha — said in a statement after their meet at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal.

“During the 10th Apex Council meeting held on 25.05.21, secretary R. Vijayanand was asked to issue a Show Cause notice to the President, Mr Mohammad Azharuddin on behalf of the Apex Council as per the Memorandum of Association Rules and Regulations — 2018, Chapter IV, point no. 41 (b) Detriment caused by the Member or Administrator. The minutes of the 10th Apex Council meeting were accepted today during the 11th Apex Council meeting and a Show Cause notice will be issued accordingly,” the release read.

They also promised resumption of the local cricket season from July, Covid pandemic guidelines from the State government permitting. “The relevant

cricket committees will meet, discuss and finalise the calendar in the next two weeks,” they stated.

Acting on this, Azhar also released a statement. “A coterie of tainted members, who are facing an enquiry by the HCA Ombudsman under rule 41(1)(b) have issued a showcause notice to the President. This post-facto action by a coterie of 5 members who are themselves facing an enquiry initiated much earlier in time is inherently illegal, malafide & vindictive,” it read.

“There is no point in these tainted people conducting the so called Apex Meeting and issuing show cause to President. These people are not eligible to conduct any meeting pending enquiry against them.

“It is public knowledge that a majority of the members of the same coterie are attending the courts accused in various corruption cases that involve kickbacks and misappropriation of public money... The money meant to be spent on the poor yet talented cricketers will continue to be swallowed as long as we have these whales around,” Azhar wrote.

“These type of actions will not cause me to back off. I never will. The fight will be on until corrupt are out of the institution and till Hyderabad Cricket has gained its lost glory, with the support of my like minded campaigners — the member secretaries,” Azhar said.
