Etala’s entry causes ‘rift’

Internal divide in BJP surfaces once again

- DC CORRESPONDENT in

Though everything looks picture perfect from outside in the state unit of the BJP, internal bickering is said to be intensifying, leading to severe feud among the senior leadership of the party.

According to sources, bad blood among senior leadership of the BJP in Telangana has been running deep since the entry of former minister Etala Rajendar into the party. The party seems to be divided over two opinions, one is over several leaders rushing to seek credit for bringing in Rajendar into the party fold, and other, many leaders feeling ‘unhappy’ over the unnecessary clamour.

Many seniors were heard commenting that a certain leader did a lot of unnecessary ‘hungama’ during the joining of Etala Rajendar, while some others feel that there is no harm in having a leader like Rajendar who has a huge following unlike many other leaders in the party.

The internal divide in Telangana BJP is nothing new. Leaders having good names and strength maintained their own camps within the party. The party also witnessed some feuds when former MP Gaddam Vivek, who is actively involved in matters of Telangana BJP, found some of his party leaders trying to counter his moves. Especially, in the case of appointing in-charges for Huzurabad byelection, after former minister Chandrashekar has been given the charge, there are talks that both Chandrashekar and Vivek are not on good terms.

The role of Vivek

Huzurabad by-elections has now become a hot topic in the party camps. Till now, the role of former minister Peddireddy in the by-election is unclear for many key politicians in BJP top leadership.

This continuous struggle for domination among BJP leaders is now creating confusion among cadres. Social media pages also have been actively trolling Vivek and Chandrashekar for their rivalry. A few leaders are said to be trying to get the issue solved with eyes on BJP state president Bandi Sanjay.
