TN: 8.16 L Plus-two students pass exam

All the 8,16,473 students of State Board higher secondary schools in Tamil Nadu have passed in their final examinatio­n, for which results were declared by the State School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyamozhi on Monday.

While the 4,15,144 girls and 3,49,449 boys, who had applied to appear for the board examinatio­n through 7,400 schools, have cleared their papers on Monday, 39,000 private candidates will have to wait till September or October to sit for their examinatio­ns.

Students who are not satisfied with the marks awarded to them on the basis of a formula arrived at by the government and was announced along with the results can also apply to appear for the examinatio­ns in September and October if they aspire to score higher marks, the minister said.

The state had announced its results for higher secondary students ahead of the July 31 deadline the CBSE had fixed for the results, he said.

Of the students who have passed Plus-two

7,64,593 (4,15,144 girls and

3,49,449 boys) belonged to the general category and the other 51,880 (31,051 boys and 20,829 girls) were from the vocational stream.

The marks scored by the students were known on Monday itself but they would have to wait till Wednesday to download the provisiona­l mark sheet from the official websites. No student has scored 600 out of 600 in the final examinatio­n while 30,600 students have scored more than 550 out of 600.
