HC told parents to pay tution fee: HPS

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, JULY 20

The management of Hyderabad Public School has said that the High Court has instructed parents who have not paid the tuition fee for their children for 2020-21, should clear the arrears.

The school said the court directed that fee arrears of up to `30,000 for 2020-21 should be paid on or before July 31, and that the outstanding arrears be cleared in two equal instalments. The second instalments should be paid by August 31, and the third and final instalment by October 30, as per the court orders, the HPS said in a statement on Tuesday.

For 2021-22, parents have been directed to deposit the tuition fee with the school from August on a regular basis, the school said.

It said that when some parents approached the High Court asserting that the school was not implementing the mandate of GO No. 46, the court had left it to the school to take a sympathetic, holistic approach to the problems faced by a few parents on account of the Covid pandemic crisis.

Following this, the HPS said, it initiated fee deferment to parents facing financial constraints due to the pandemic, 100 per cent fee waiver/exemption to students who had lost their parents to Covid, and fee waiver of `10,000 on the annual fee.

The school, following further orders from the High Court, provided online class access to all students including those who could not clear tuition fee as part of redressing grievances of parents, on a case-by-case basis.
