PM lauds TS as Ramappa gets world heritage tag

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratula­ted the people of Telangana as the Unesco declared the ancient Ramappa temple in Mulugu district as a world heritage site on Sunday.

Modi tweeted, “Excellent! Congratula­tions to everyone, especially the people of Telangana. The iconic Ramappa temple showcases the outstandin­g craftsmans­hip of the great Kakatiya dynasty. I would urge you all to visit this majestic temple complex and get a first-hand experience of its grandness”.

Union home minister Amit Shah too expressed happiness over the Ramappa temple being declared a Unesco world heritage site.

Union minister of culture, tourism and developmen­t G Kishan Reddy thanked the Prime Minister for his guidance and support as the Unesco conferred the world heritage status to Rudreswara Temple, (also known as the Ramappa Temple) at Palampet, Mulugu district, near Warangal.

The minister also took the opportunit­y to thank the Prime Minister on behalf of the nation, particular­ly the people of Telangana. “It gives me immense pleasure to share that Unesco has conferred the world heritage inscriptio­n to Ramappa temple. On behalf of the nation, particular­ly the people of Telangana, I express my thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his guidance and support,” tweeted Kishan Reddy.

Telangana IT and MA&UD minister KT Rama Rao also expressed happiness over the announceme­nt of the historical site of Ramappa Temple in the world heritage list by the Unesco. He tweeted, “Happy to hear the good news that the 800-year-old Kakatiya Rudreshwar­a (Ramappa) temple in Telangana has been inscribed as

a Unesco world heritage site. This is the first world heritage site in Telangana. Next aim is to get world heritage city status for our capital city Hyderabad.”

BJP state president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar and other leaders of BJP also expressed happiness over the announceme­nt of Ramappa temple as a world

heritage site by the Unesco. They thanked Narendra Modi and Kishan Reddy for their efforts to get the world heritage status to Ramappa temple.
