KBC LOTTERY FRAUD: WOMAN DUPED OF `8 LAKH

A house wife fell for the fake Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) lottery promising a payout of

`25 lakh. The victim was duped to a tune of `8 lakhs by the Fraudsters. According to the police, the victim was approached by the fraudsters and lured her that, she won a Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) lottery of ` 25 lakhs.

Subsequent­ly the Fraudsters demanded to transfer an amount of ` 20,000 as processing fee. Further she received another call from another person who impersonat­ed the investigat­ion official of KBC and asked her to transfer

`75000 and `25000 for currency conversion process and accountant fee respective­ly.

"Further the fraudster stated that they already sent the prize amount of `25 lakhs to her account but due to tax problems the transactio­n was freezed by income tax department asked the victim to pay

`1.2 lakhs rupees as income tax settlement fee.And fraudster made her to transfer `1.3 lakhs as bank depositing amount," said police.

Likewise the victim ended up paying a total of Rs 8 lakhs to different set of fraudsters towards “processing fees”, “currency conversion” and others.

After realising that she got cheated, the victim approached Jeedimetla police of Cyberabad Commission­erate and lodged a complaint. The police booked a case and further investigat­ion is underway.

Cyberabad police cautioned the public not to believe these types of frauds and transfer amounts without verificati­on.
