The police registered a case against the Jubilee Hills Cooperative House Building Society (JHCHBS) president and TV5 MD Ravindranath and treasurer Nagaraju for alleged irregularities in society land transactions.

According to police, Suresh Babu, a member of JHCHBS, lodged a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police alleging that Ravindranath sold land worth crores of rupees for a lesser price. In his complaint, he said the TV5 MD had sold about 365 yards of society land without informing the society. The land was sold to a woman named Parvati Devi. Against this backdrop, the sale of the land, valued at over `7 crore, resulted in a loss of `5 crore to the society, he said in his complaint.

He alleged that the government allotted the land to the society and later the society developed it by dividing into plots and laying roads. “The plots have been allotted to the members of the society, after which there was a waiting list consisting of about 1,500 members. Whenever there is land available, the society has to develop the land into plots and allot the same to the members of the society. The new managing committee was elected in March 2021 and B. Ravindranath was elected as the president. The society members identified the vacant land to an extent of 365 square yards and requested the management to mark plot numbers to the said land and allot the same to eligible members. The society can consider the said land as a plot and the same has to be given to the waitlisted member of the society. However, it was revealed that Ravindranath and Nagaraju, the treasurer, along with the staff, conspired together to deceive the society members and without passing any resolution by the managing committee, unilaterally allotted to one J. Parvathi Devi, who is the owner of a plot which is situated adjacent to the said plot. The president allotted the plot to Parvathi Devi by receiving the illegal gratification,” said the petition filed by Suresh Babu. He also alleged in the complaint that upon conducting an enquiry, it was revealed that by taking advantage of the resolution of the general body of the society on March 27, 2005, the president and treasurer, by receiving illegal gratification and conspiring with neighbouring land owner, allotted the land by treating it as a stray bit as per the value maintained by the registration department.

“At present, the value of the land in open market is over `7 crore, but the society allotted it to Devi for `1.65 crore and in turn, illegal gratification was paid to the president and treasurer of, causing a wrongful loss of more than `5 crore,” Babu said.
