ONE MORE TERROR SUSPECT HELD IN MUMBAI
A joint team of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested a person from the Jogeshwari area of Mumbai in connection with the terror module busted by Delhi Police earlier this week. The man identified as Zakir Hussain Shaikh was arrested from the Jogeshwari area in Mumbai.
The accused was on Saturday produced before a court, which remanded him to police custody till September 20. While seeking his custody for further investigation, the ATS informed the court that he was in touch with someone from the “neighbouring country”.
Security at railway stations in Mumbai has been tightened after specific information received from the interrogation of other accused by Delhi police that a terrorist attack was planned on Mumbai local trains.
According to sources, the terrorists who were nabbed by the Delhi Police had planned to release toxic gas in Mumbai local trains. The intelligence department has informed the railway police about this.
Orders have been issued to immediately investigate any suspicious movements. All the gates except the main entrance at railway stations have been closed.
Earlier, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Tuesday busted the terror module with the arrest of six men, including two Pak-ISI trained terrorists.
Officials had said that the terrorists were allegedly planning to carry out several blasts across the country.
