KCR to meet Stalin, revives speculation on Federal Front

- L. VENKAT RAM REDDY | DC HYDERABAD, DEC. 13

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Monday said that he will meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin in Chennai on Tuesday. He, however, did not disclose the agenda of the meeting, leading to speculation linking the visit to his attempts to revive his plans to float a non-BJP and non-Congress national-level political alliance for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

This will be Rao’s first meeting with Stalin after the latter assumed charge as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in May this year. The meeting assumes significance in the wake of the TRS government’s ongoing row with the

BJP government at the Centre on the issue of paddy procurement.

The earlier attempts of Rao to forge a Federal Front of regional parties against the NDA and the UPA in 2018 for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls failed to materialise due to various reasons.

This will be Rao’s second meeting with Stalin in Chennai. He met Stalin when he was the opposition leader in April 2018 seeking

DMK’s support to the Federal Front before the

2019 Lok Sabha polls. Sources said the meeting between Rao and Stalin will be held at 5 pm on Tuesday.

Rao will stay overnight in Chennai to meet the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

Earlier in the day, the CM performed special pujas at Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple at Srirangam in Tamil Nadu along with his family members.

This is the CM’s second visit to Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple. Earlier, he visited the temple soon after the Lok Sabha polls in May

2019. Rao’s second visit to the temple marked the third anniversary of taking oath as the CM of Telangana for the second term on December 13, 2018.

l KCR’S MEETING with Stalin assumes significance in the wake of the TRS government’s ongoing row with the BJP government at the Centre on the issue of paddy procurement.
