Khatija shared a picture collage from the betrothal ceremony. She was seen in a rani pink crepe ghagra with floral embroidery and applique work, and a matching facemask. Instead of posting
Riyasdeen’s pictures from the ceremony, she shared a black-and-white photo of her fiancé.
“With the blessings of the Almighty I’m happy to announce to you all my engagement with Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed @riyasdeenriyan, an aspiring entrepreneur and a wizkid audio engineer. The engagement happened on 29th December, my birthday in the presence
of close family and loved ones,” she wrote as the caption.
According to a source close to the family, Riyasdeen works as a sound engineer at AR Rahman’s KM Studio and is the ‘Live sound designer’ for the maestro’s works as well as his international stage shows. He also collaborates with acclaimed music director and singer Amit Trivedi.
The source says it is both, a love marriage and an arranged one, and adds that Riyasdeen
belongs to a well-connected family from down south. Commenting on reports in a section of the media that the wedding is to take place at the end of January, AR Rahman, when contacted by this newspaper, said it would happen after four months. Though ARR did not reveal the date, it appears that the wedding will be held after the Ramzan month, scheduled to end sometime in early May.
Meanwhile, the Mozart of Madras is busy with his current assignments, including the Dubai Expo 2022, which concludes in March 2022. A couple of months back, Khatija Rahman had given a stunning performance at the Expo.
As a musician, Khatija made her debut in the acclaimed movie Robot and sang the title track in all three languages. She is also the director of The AR Rahman Foundation and works for the downtrodden.
