DIGITAL MEMBERSHIP drive chief coordinator Harkara Venugopal Rao said that they are aiming to achieve 40 lakh membership by the end of March.
The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has achieved its record of 30 lakh digital membership by touching 32 lakh on Saturday.
In the previous membership drive, done manually five years back, TPCC had attracted 18 lakh members.
In a first-of-its-kind innovation, All India Congress Committee (AICC) introduced digital membership drive by developing an exclusive application and set a March 31 deadline to all state units.
TPCC president and Lok Sabha member A. Revanth Reddy added pep by adding `two lakh insurance cover for party members and appointed parliamentary and Assembly constituency level coordinators to monitor the drive.
Incidentally, Nalgonda Parliamentary constituency, represented by Revanth Reddy’s predecessor and MP, N.Uttam Kumar Reddy topped in the digital membership drive, followed by Peddapally and Malkajgiri.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, digital membership drive chief coordinator Harkara Venugopal Rao said that they are aiming to achieve 40 lakh membership by the end of March.
Rao said that the drive was taken up as a pilot-project in Telangana state. It led to Maharashtra, Karnataka and other states picking up their digital membership drive.
Meanwhile, TPCC will celebrate the achievement with AICC state in-charge Manickam Tagore and Revanth Reddy felicitating party leaders, who had achieved their targets on Sunday. Party state headquarters Gandhi Bhavan has been illuminated as part of the celebrations.
