VALENTINE’S DAY CELEBRATION OF LOVE
It’s not restricted to love between couples only. It’s a day to value bonds with every loved one, including yourself
HOW VALENTINE’S DAY BEGAN
Valentine’s Day is named after Saint Valentine who was a priest or bishop in Rome. He was jailed for performing Christian marriages in secret when the Roman Empire was persecuting Christians. It is said that Saint Valentine helped couples to get married. The emperor Claudius II believed that single men were as great as soldiers. Saint Valentine disagreed with this ideology and helped couples in love to get married.
Saint Valentine was jailed and then beheaded by the emperor. However, during his time in jail he had cured the jailer’s blind daughter. In response she wrote a note of gratitude to the Saint on the 14th of February. That is the belief of how Valentine’s Day begins. According to this story, it could be a reciprocal celebration.
Today, every culture and country has their significance of Valentine’s Day.
ADDS VALUE TO A HAPPY RELATIONSHIP Sonali Fabiani
Raheja, Founder, Altry, Gifts That Matter says, “while it’s true that newer relationships celebrate Valentine’s Day more, I think it is extremely important to celebrate your relationships and make sure to continue making those extra thoughtful and romantic gestures for each other. And by that, I mean your partner should always feel valued and appreciated and never taken for granted. That does not mean you have to bring home heart shaped balloons or flowers on Valentine’s Day, but it doesn’t hurt to use it as a reminder to celebrate your partner.
